Bulent Ecevit University

Bulent Ecevit University is a state university in Turkey. It was founded in 1924 as the "Metallurgical Engineering Office" to meet the state's mineral exploration needs in the city of Zonguldak. In 1992, more faculties were added to the university and it was directly linked to Hacettepe University in Ankara, renaming it Kara Almas University. In 2012, the Turkish government decided to honor Bulent Ecevit, a journalist, poet, politician, and former Prime Minister, by changing the name of Kara Almas University in Zonguldak to Bulent Ecevit University.
