Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University is a public and private university founded in 2010 in Istanbul by the General Directorate of Foundations of the Prime Ministry of the Republic of Turkey. The university is governed by a Board of Trustees headed by Ismail Gerçek and eight other members.
The university offers instruction in Arabic, Turkish, and English, and is the first university to offer some of its majors in Arabic. The university has five campuses, with the Rectorate located in the Fatih district, and other campuses in the districts of Halici, Topkapi, Kandilli, Küçük Çamlıca, and Üsküdar.
The university has approximately 15 research centers and a Turkish language center (TOMER), one of the most renowned in Istanbul, as well as a project management center, a distance learning center, and an open education center. The university also offers numerous student activities, including cultural and social clubs such as the Health Club, the Culture Club, and sports clubs.
