Established by the Ibrahim Arkan Foundation for Education and Scientific Research, it opened in the 2014-2015 academic year. It is also the first university in the world to adopt the "flipped classroom" educational model at the university level.

The flipped classroom is an educational strategy and a type of blended learning that aims to increase student engagement and learning by having students complete readings at home and work on problems directly during class time.
