Şırnak University is a state university, considered one of the modern universities in the Republic of Turkey, founded in 2008. The university bears the same name as the city in which it is located, close to the Iraqi border. What distinguishes the university is its acceptance of a large number of international students each year, making it a destination for foreign students in general and Arab students in particular. The university is located in the city of Şırnak, a 10-minute drive from the city center by public bus.
