What are the documents required to transfer ownership of a vehicle at a notary public in Türkiye?

The seller and buyer must appear in person before a notary public in Turkey, or be authorized to do so by their representative.

For foreign residents, a residency permit is required, along with a copy of their passport translated into Turkish and certified by a notary public in Turkey, and their original passport.

For foreigners holding a refugee kimlik, the kimlik must be from the same city where the sale is to be made, or a kimlik from a different city and have a travel permit to the city where the sale is to be made. For Turkish citizens, their ID card must be present.

If the seller or buyer is not fluent in Turkish, a sworn translator is required. You can contact Tayf Turkey Services.

The vehicle license must be present during the sale. The vehicle license will be printed in the name of the new owner at the notary public office and duly delivered. - If the new owner wishes to change the vehicle's license plates, they must bring the old plates to the notary public's office and receive them.
- Bring the vehicle purchase amount in cash to the notary public or via a bank transfer during the signing stage, the final stage of the sale.
- Ensure the vehicle is clear of taxes and violations before the sale.
+ Note: Please note that the agreed-upon vehicle purchase amount is transferred to the owner's bank account on the license plate and not to any other party, whether a son, daughter, or relative.
+ Receive all available copies of the vehicle keys.
