About the service

Student residence in Türkiye:

Student residency in Turkey is one of the most important types of residency in the country. Student residency in Turkey is only granted to students of universities and institutes, whether private or public. Student residency is not granted to students of public or private schools. Short-term tourist residency is sufficient, and the purpose of residence remains study in Türkiye.

We will present the steps for obtaining a student residency permit in order according to the following table of contents:

-Electronic appointment
-Mandatory health insurance for residence
-Tax number
-Passport attestation translation
-A student's paper from a Turkish university
-Paying residence fees
-Personal photos
-A copy of the passport and visa
-Lease contract

1. Electronic appointment

It can be obtained from the Turkish Immigration Department website

Important notes:

Presented by Taif Student Association. To avoid errors when making an appointment online, be careful when booking an appointment to ensure the accuracy of the information in the application:

1- Writing the name and surname exactly matches the name in the passport, especially for nationalities that write the name in its five- and four-letter forms. The names must be distributed in the first and last name boxes so that when the first and last name are combined, the result matches your name in the passport, because changing the name after the residency permit is issued is very costly and difficult, and you will encounter problems related to opening bank accounts or procedures with the notary public due to the lack of matching.

2- Use a recent biometric photo less than 6 months old. Some residencies have been rejected because of the photo.

3- Declare your source of income and your ability to live sufficiently in Türkiye, and state the correct amount of your income in Turkish lira and its source.

4- Mention the date of moving to the address in Türkiye as closely as possible to the date of the lease contract or the date of ownership of the property.

5- Accurately link the health insurance number and date to the appointment request (therefore, health insurance must be obtained before starting the appointment procedures).

5- Make sure you write the passport number and start and end dates correctly, otherwise you will not be able to complete the application.

6- Provide a valid Turkish phone number and email, otherwise you will not be able to complete and follow up on the request later.

The most important note

It does not require a residency appointment before entering Turkey, whether applying for a residence permit for the first time or renewing it. Booking an appointment before entering Turkey is a major reason for refusing your residency permit in Turkey. The Immigration Department website offers three options: first, applying for a residence permit for the first time while holding a valid visa that has not expired. second, extending or renewing the residence permit if you already have a residence permit and intend to renew it with the same type for the second time. second, changing the type of residence permit if you already have a tourist residence permit and want to change it to a family residence permit or any other type.

After selecting the application for the first time, options will appear for selecting the type of residence permit (student residence permit). Taking into account the above, the applicant will be asked for the student's information in Turkey, which is as follows: Student number or university registration number; Start and end dates of study; Name of university (public or private); Name of major or department; Detailed address of college or university. The student can apply for a residence permit based on the number of years of study. For example, if the student studies engineering for 4 years, they can obtain a four-year residence permit. If the student has a preparatory year for a language (English or Turkish), the residence permit will be for one year the first time, and can be renewed based on the number of years of study or less. The passport expiration date should be taken into consideration.

2- Mandatory health insurance for residence:

It is mandatory for individuals between the ages of 18 and 65. For individuals younger than 18 and older than 65, health insurance is not a condition for obtaining residency. Other than that, it is a condition. To obtain health insurance, a person is required to have only four pieces of information: a copy of their passport or residency permit, a detailed residential address in Turkey, and the start date of the health insurance, which should preferably match the date of submitting the residency application if applying for the first time or the expiry date if applying for a residency renewal. Health insurance prices vary according to age and gender. You can click the link to get health insurance prices. Tayf Turkey is an official agent and partner of dozens of private insurance companies. Spectrum Turkey recommends paying attention to the information and entering it correctly and accurately in accordance with the passport. Amending it later can be time-consuming and time-consuming. After obtaining the tax number, you can save it on your mobile phone or as a paper document. You will need it later for various procedures until the residency is issued. You can request a tax number through Spectrum Student Services.

4- Translation and certification of passport:

The notary public in Turkey (known as NOTER) requests a translation and certification of the passport into Turkish. Due to the difference in the naming method between the Turkish system and other countries, Taif Turkey advises you to keep a copy of the passport translated and certified by the notary public, as you will need it in many subsequent transactions in Türkiye.

You can request a certified translation and notarization through Taif Türkiye.

5- A student's paper from a Turkish university

After confirming the final registration in one of the Turkish universities, the student receives a student paper containing his university data, which is the paper required when submitting the student residence application to the Turkish Immigration Department.
