Ahi Evran University, located in Kırşehir, operated as an educator until 1974. After that year, it was transformed into an educational institute, encompassing several educational and administrative colleges leading to diploma degrees, such as the College of Basic Education, the College of Management, and the College of Government Institutions Management. In 1982, the institute was affiliated with Gazi University, marking the first steps toward establishing the university. The study period was extended from two to four years. The institute continued to operate under the umbrella of Gazi University until March 2006, when the Turkish government issued a government decree establishing the independent Ahi Evran University.
Ahi Evran University comprises seven diverse faculties and three graduate institutes.
