Bogazici University
Boğaziçi University, now known as Boğaziçi University, is a public university in Turkey, located in Istanbul. The university was founded by inventor Cyrus Hamlin and Christopher Robert in 1863. It is considered the first American educational institution established outside the United States.
In 1971, the university was refounded and renamed Boğaziçi University by Dr. Everton, who was the university's president at the time. Since then, Boğaziçi University has become one of Turkey's most important universities, particularly in the field of scientific research.
Located in a British-style building directly above the Bosphorus Lake, Boğaziçi University was built by American missionaries in the mid-19th century. The university has played a significant role in modernizing political, social, economic, and scientific thought in Türkiye.
