University of Tigris
In 1966, Ankara University opened the Faculty of Medicine in Diyarbakır, which became the foundation of Dicle University. In 1974, the Faculty of Science was opened, making the university independent from Ankara University and renamed Dicle University. It is one of the oldest universities in the southeastern region of Türkiye, located on the banks of the Tigris River.
