Necmettin Erbakan University was founded in 2010 in Konya province. It is named after the famous politician Necmettin Erbakan, who served as Prime Minister of Turkey from 1996 to 1997.
The university comprises 14 faculties, four institutes, and 13 research centers. It enrolls approximately 16,000 students and employs approximately 1,450 faculty members.
