Establishment of a university
University of Euphrates
It is a public university located in Mamur Elazig, Turkey. It was founded in 1975. It was first opened in 1967 as Elazig Technical High School. In the same year, the Senate of Ankara University approved the establishment of the Elazig Veterinary College by the Ministry of National Education. The Technical College was established in 1969 under Law No. 1184.

It was transformed into the Elazığ State Academy of Engineering and Architecture, and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, affiliated with Ankara University, was opened for teaching in 1970. The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine was established and approved by the Turkish Grand National Assembly on April 1, 1975, and was published in the Official Gazette on April 11, 1975. The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Fırat Cevher University was incorporated into Fırat University, which was implemented with the "Law on the Establishment of Four Universities" No. 1873, which entered into force upon its publication.
